What is Shrink Wrap?
A protective wrapping for goods and/or materials using clear plastic film wound around the articles and then shrunk by heat is known as shrink wrap. After the package is wrapped perfectly, those who handle it apply heat that makes the film shrink, thus forming a sealed, tight-fitting package. The final product is also called the shrink package. Polymer-based plastic film is the material of choice for shrink wrap. Polyolefin is the most common film in use as it’s available in a number of thicknesses, clarity, strengths, and shrink ratios. Other frequently used materials are also based on polymers, such as PVC, Polyethylene, and Polypropylene.
Shrink wrap packaging is a very adaptable multipurpose material that has revolutionized not only the packaging industry, but has a wide array of uses for security, containment, and safety. Because of its ability to create an air-tight barrier when subjected to heat shrink wrap is used by many industries, manufacturers, and shippers – as well as banks and even governments.

With just a roll of shrink wrap paper and a heating source, you can waterproof, weatherproof and tamperproof just about anything you have. As an added bonus, shrink wrap plastic is recyclable; when you’re finished with it, you can toss it in with your other plastic bags to be recycled and remade for future uses.
